Richard Renz, LMSW, USN (Ret.), is a dedicated social work professional and advocate specializing in trauma-informed care, veteran reintegration, and mental health counseling. With a distinguished background as a Navy combat veteran in Naval Special Warfare, Richard brings deep insight and empathy to his clinical practice and organizational leadership roles.
Richard earned his Master's in Social Work from Boise State University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Human Services. He emphasizes program evaluation and the effectiveness of reentry support programs. As the founder and President of Visions of Hope, a nonprofit 501(c) organization, he leads initiatives that provide housing, counseling, and comprehensive support services to probation and parole clients, veterans, and families in high-stress environments.
Committed to evidence-based therapeutic approaches, Richard integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Mindfulness practices into his work. He actively engages in policy advocacy to address systemic issues impacting mental health service delivery, particularly within correctional and veteran communities.
In addition to his clinical and advocacy roles, Richard has demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring abilities, serving as an officer in the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society. His professional philosophy emphasizes community betterment, compassionate care, and unwavering dedication to supporting individuals facing life's most challenging transitions.
