Landen Chau
LPC-Intern
I was born in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, though I’ve moved quite a bit in my life. After being in the Air Force, I went back to school at Sierra Nevada University (now UNR at Lake Tahoe) for Psychology and now I’m working on my M.A. in Counseling at Boise State. I’ve worked a number of jobs in different fields ranging from operations intelligence in the Air Force to photography and raft guiding. But, in terms of more relevant experience that y’all would want to see; I’ve worked as an outdoor therapy guide, psych tech, BHA, RBT, and some other positions as well. Through these experiences I’ve worked with a decent range of ages (5ish and up) in areas such as anger, addiction, developmental delays, trauma, and probably some others but this bio is getting long.
In my free time I love to kayak and practice woodworking, when it isn’t too hot I’ll play disc golf too. My personal approach is a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic therapy, and Morita therapy. Where the hope is that we can find self-acceptance in our life, defuse from those painful experiences we all run into at some point, and discover some balance; not just mentally, but physically as well.
